About Us

I’m Lindsey, homeschooling mama to two creative eclectic children. After 2 1/2 years in the British state (public to the USA) school system, we changed to homeschooling/home education when we moved continents to live in Washington State, USA.

We’ve been through deschooling, curricula, unit studies, public school district Alternative Learning Environments (ALEs), more deschooling, writing our own curricula, Wilderness and Forest Schools, homeschool co-op, even more deschooling, and have ended up with a somewhat haphazard self-directed learning style.

We are a secular (atheist/British Humanist) family and are always working to provide a better secular, inclusive, anti-racist, intersectionally environmentalist and decolonized education for our children and ourselves. Having said that, we include education and inclusivity of different religions in our approach, and some of the resources we have used have not been technically 100% secular but adaptable to a secular approach.

What I do

Homeschooling Support

I hope that some of what I have learnt and am learning in our unschooling journey can be of help for other families, especially those looking for support in homeschooling in a neurodiverse family or secular homeschooling.

Homeschool Resources

Resources I develop to support our learning will eventually be made available on this site.

Homesteading

We live on 2 1/2 acres, in the trees of Washington state, with chickens, a dog and other pets, plus the wildlife in the woods! I’m always trying to grow more of our own food and aspects of homesteading life are entwined with how we live and learn.
